2020 was far from what we anticipated the first year in our new space to look like. We opened, we closed, we evolved our product, we furloughed our team, and had a chance to open yet again.

The COVID-19 Pandemic has hit many communities & individuals hard — we know this already. But being at the heart of Philadelphia’s creative community, we have seen the impact it has had directly on our fellow creative entrepreneurs.
It was only 3 months after our grand opening before REC had to close the doors of our 10,000 sq ft state-of-the-art creative facility inside Fashion District Philadelphia due to the pandemic. We were nearing 1,000 active members before COVID took over.
Whew. What a past few months it’s been. One thing is for sure – it’s now more important than ever that creators are developing their businesses to live life on their own terms.

We’re extremely proud to have hosted a fireside chat with business legend Daymond John at the REC Room. From founding FUBU to starring on NBC’s Shark Tank, we’ve always admired Daymond’s work as an entrepreneur.
So most of the world is panicking in fear of the Corona Virus. But not you. You are a cool, calm and collected creative entrepreneur who is ready to use this time to hone your craft, strengthen your weaknesses and come out of the other side of this pandemic on top and ahead of the game.
The COVID 19 outbreak is affecting us all but it’s certainly hitting some communities harder than others. For us as artists & freelancers, much of our income is predicated on being able to perform in front of audiences or fulfill client needs in person.
Over the weekend, we celebrated our second LIVE at REC of the year. February’s was extra special with two longtime members, Jada Lee and Armani Lee, co-headlining the show. Thank you to everyone who celebrated all of the month’s wins with us!
An event doesn’t end with securing the well known talent. It’s not just creating a good flyer or having an open bar. It’s about planning & executing an experience for your guests from entry to exit.
We’ve all been at that event, met the homie’s homie or that person we’ve been looking to connect with & been asked that same question: “So…What do you do?”
Rise and Shoot is an event we created for the photographers, models, designers and stylists of the REC Community. We set up photo activations, lighting setups, and backdrops around all the studios.
Hosted our first Creator talk of the year on January 24th with 3 entrepreneurs who’ve made a living doing what they love. We’ve literally never had this many people come out for a panel. BIG thank you to every single person who came to talk turning passions into profit. This is just the start!
