You get better being around better people. In art, in music, in business. Greatness is contagious, but so is bullsh*t. So if you’re dedicated to living a few years of your life like most people won’t, so that you can spend the rest of your life like most people can’t– you’re going to have to surround yourself with others on the same mission. (Shameless plug: Which is why you’re reading this blog post. You understand that Independent Doesn’t Mean Alone and the importance of being a part of a community dedicated to pushing creators to be the best they can.)

With this social distancing, we all have to take a 2 week pause on the “being around people” part, and as a result have some extra time on our hands. We challenge you to take thathat  hour or two you may have used to be around other people who push you (in a good way), and use it to listen to some people who will motivate you (digitally).

Here’s some of our favorite series that can help keep you entertained, but also can lend some creative insight while stuck in the house.

Jeff Staple & Hypebeast Radio’s Business of Hype

It’s a show about creative entrepreneurs, brand-builders, innovators and the realities behind the dreams they’ve built. Whether you’re a graphic designer, conceptual artist, photographer, social media manager, a second hand fashion entrepreneur (aka reseller) creative director, clothing designer or someone who aspires to work at a record label or the marketing department for Nike. (Our creative director swears by this show…we’re told one episode & you’re hooked)

GQ’s Epic Conversations

1 on 1 conversations with some of greatest & legendary writers, actors, producers, musicians.

NPR’s How I Built This

This show dives into the stories behind some of the world’s best known companies. Guy Raz weaves a narrative journey about innovators, entrepreneurs and idealists—and the movements they built.
